Diana Careaga is the Director of the Family Supports Team, which is part of First 5 LA’s Center for Child and Family Impact. As Family Supports Director, she collaborates with functional leads to guide and fund systems change activities related to family strengthening services with the goal of ensuring families have the resources necessary to optimize their child’s development and are safe from abuse, neglect and other trauma.
Diana has over twenty years of experience in program planning, administration and public health. Her work has focused on the field of maternal and child health, from access to services and education to support for families. Prior to First 5 LA’s organizational restructuring, Diana oversaw First 5 LA’s home visiting portfolio as a Senior Program Officer. Her work centered around both light-touch and intensive home visitation models, with a focus on optimizing quality and program implementation through ongoing quality improvement and system building efforts in partnership with others.
Diana has completed numerous parenting trainings and certifications, including trauma-informed nonviolent child-raising, and is an avid learner and practitioner of positive parenting. She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sociology from University of California Davis, a Master’s in Public Health and a Masters of Arts from University of California Los Angeles.
