Looking for something to do while you are practicing social distancing and staying at home due to the Coronavirus? Fill out the 2020 Census! It only takes about 10 minutes and you are helping to ensure your state and local community receive its fair share of $675 billion in federal funding for schools, child care, medical care, public transportation and more.

For those with fears about exposure to Coronavirus, remember that it has never been easier to complete the 2020 Census — using the mail-in form, online at my2020census.gov or over the phone — all without meeting a Census taker!

The 2020 Census can be filled out online or by phone. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline has been extended to mid-August (previously, the deadline was July 31).

Additionally, the nonresponse follow-up operation, where enumerators go door-to-door to count people who have not responded, will start in late May instead of mid-May, and it will end on August 14 rather than the previous deadline of July 31. People can also respond online, by phone, or by mail until August 14.

The bureau will also delay a count of homeless people by one month until the end of April.

The U.S. Census Bureau continues to monitor the Coronavirus pandemic is taking additional steps to respond, including delaying field operations until April 1 and other scheduling changes. For the latest updates, go to the U.S. Census Bureau page on Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, First 5 LA is providing this guidance to concerned parents. For more information, check out this article here.
