LA County Community Spaces and Places for Families

Research shows that being in green spaces enables children to thrive physically and emotionally. Richard Louv, co-founder of the Children & Nature Network, identifies numerous benefits including stress reduction, positive feelings, confidence-building and greater focus.

Los Angeles County has a wealth of public places for families to enjoy, but many aren’t always well known or well used. Los Angeles is full of spaces to learn — libraries, museums and community centers — as well as places to enjoy nature, such as hiking areas, beaches and recreation centers. There are also a wide range of areas to be active, such as public pools and splash pads, and spaces where families can relax and have fun. Best of all, nearly all of the community spaces and places for families in Los Angeles County are free for all to enjoy this summer. To begin learning more about spaces and places in your community, start by calling 2-1-1 or use the countywide search.
