First 5 LA Parent to Parent: Stacey Alysson

What’s pink and round and can do Downward Dog? Parker Pig, of course!

Parker Pig is the brainchild of Stacey Alysson, a Los Angeles County mom and yoga teacher who spent years working in preschools, where she found that kids and yoga are a natural match.

“Yoga is a tool to help children calm their bodies and focus their minds. It is a skill that lasts a lifetime,” she says. “Even for children as young as 2, practicing yoga can help build balance and confidence. And they love the animal-inspired poses.”

This is how Parker Pig, a yoga-loving pig and star of two children’s books, came to be. “Yoga is truly for everyone. The books are a resource for kids of all abilities to have fun and learn poses by practicing yoga,” says Alysson.

Parker Pig loves yoga, and so do her animal friends! The gentle, rhyming text and charming illustrations follow Parker and friends through yoga class. Each of the Parker Pig books take readers on an adventure through the fun of yoga. With warmth and encouragement, the books remind readers of an important life lesson: “It’s a yoga practice, not a yoga perfect.”
