COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES FUND

Printer-friendly version

Over the past two funding cycles, the Community Opportunities Fund (COF) has supported long-term sustainable change for Los Angeles County’s young children and their families in the following three Funding Priority areas:

1. Supportive parents and caregivers
2. Good health (including nutrition, physical activity, and oral health)
3. Prevention of unintentional injuries

COF has provided two types of funding through organizational capacity building and policy and advocacy grants.  Investment in organizational capacity building is intended to improve agencies’ internal management or programmatic capacities to increase or improve organizations’ impact on the communities and families they serve.  Investment in policy and advocacy is intended to further First 5 LA’s Policy Agenda through systems change that will improve the lives of LA County’s young children and families.

Prior to releasing the two subsequent cycles, COF will be revisited to ensure that the fund is in alignment with First 5 LA’s upcoming Strategic Plan.  Therefore, it is projected at this time that COF Cycle Three will begin in late Spring or early Summer 2009.
