William Arroyo, M.D., is the Medical Director of the Child, Youth, and Family Administration for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Keck USC School of Medicine. As Medical Director, he represents LACDMH in program development and policy implementation efforts in the children's mental health arena at the county and state levels. His recent projects have focused on infancy/early childhood mental health and juvenile justice. He also serves as the Principal Investigator of Project ABC, a federal initiative to develop a system of care for young children from birth to age 5. Dr. Arroyo actively serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; as a board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; and has served on advisory committees for national mental health technical assistance centers at Portland State University, Georgetown University, and the National Center for Juvenile Justice and Mental Health. In 2005, Dr. Arroyo received an Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). |
