Vaughn Next Century Learning Center, located in Pacoima, is a large urban public school within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). After converting to a public charter school in 1993, Vaughn pushed public school reform to its limits with the approval and support of LAUSD. The center was awarded the California Distinguished Schools Award in 1995 and the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award in 1996.
