The Urban Education Partnership's mission is to help students in high-need schools improve their academic achievement through collaborative partnerships with educators, parents and the community. Contact Information: 315 West Ninth Street Suite 1110 Los Angeles, CA 90015 http://www.lalc.k12.ca.us Funding For: School Readiness Initiative The target population for this program is children ages 0-5 and their families in the zip codes of 91342 and 90001 communities of Los Angeles County. Major program activities include: children age 1-4 are engaged in early learning activities during weekly one-hour home visits, parents are also engaged and early learning supplies are provided, series of six-week child-parent workshops each year and three twelve-week child-parent series for children age 0-2 and their parents, intensive case management services for families with children age 0-5 in both the 90001 and 91342 zip codes, formalize a Pre-K/K articulation meetings three times a year to promote kindergarten transition, parent involvement, special needs training and development of a standard portfolio of assessments. Teachers and parents will be involved in the development of School Readiness Kits to be distributed to families in the zip codes to increase knowledge about kindergarten transition and readiness. |
