Partnership for Families
This program serves families who are either: an overburdened/high risk family referred by DCFS, or a pregnant woman or teen, self-referred or referred by a community agency, who is coping with any of the following: domestic violence, depression and/or substance abuse. By working within the context of the family and their community, PFF professionals work with families to address their needs and develop an action plan. It starts with a complete evaluation of the family’s needs, including social supports, parent-child interaction, developmental stimulation, behavioral concerns and family strengths and stressors. PFF works to develop a network of local level partnerships between new and existing service agencies and groups that are coordinated, accessible and responsive to the unique needs of children and families. Partnerships for Families Services are free and include:
  • Regular home visits to provide family support and child development information
  • Family activities to promote positive family relationships
  • Help with basic needs (food, clothing, child care, education, transportation)
  • Linkages to community resources and agencies
  • Mental health counseling for personal and family issues
  • A Parent Advisory Board to include parents in program decision making
The PFF program is designed to assist families for an average of six months, based on a family’s needs.
