The district administers comprehensive education services for children who are in kindergarten through grade 8 who live in the City of Lawndale and portions of Gardena and Hawthorne.

Funding For:
Kindergarten Readiness Program
The purpose of this grant is to promote the idea of school readiness by creating centers and programs that offer an array of services, including early care and education, health and social services, parenting education and support. Characteristics of the target population include 29% adults not graduated high school, 29% of population born outside the United States, 22% of population below poverty level, 76% of students receive free or reduced cost lunch. This program is located in SPA 8. Major program activities include 144 new center based slots for 3 and 4 year olds, Home visitation program for 100 0-5 year olds, case management for project families, enhanced articulation, cooperation, and understanding among kinder and preschool staff.
