Elizabeth Learning Center - Family Literacy Program
Establish in Cudahy (SPA 7), the program will create a preschool class for children ages 3 - 4, and their families. The target population is primarily low-income, limited English-speaking Hispanic families. Parents in the program will be provided with a complete range of ESL, Basic Education and High School/GED classes. Children's participation in the pre-school class will strengthen social skills and school-readiness skills. Parent and Child participation in PACT time will increase transfer of school-readiness activities into the home. Parents' participation in the Parenting course will result in increased understanding of child development stages, as well as positive discipline and communication skills.
