This project operates programs and services designed to stabilize, support, guide and empower families with children, ages 0-5 and their families in San Pedro (SPA 8) and surrounding areas. Harbor Interfaith currently serves more than 16,000 persons each year, of which over 50 percent are children. Some of the services provided to families--either directly or through the working relationships with complementary agencies--include food and shelter, service advocacy, job preparation and placement, physical and mental health services, educational opportunities, and follow-up supportive services. H.I.S. Tots Childcare Center The goal of the project is to ensure that low-income children in SPA 8, ages 0-5, are socially, emotionally, and cognitively ready for school through programs at the Harbor Interfaith Tots Childcare Center. Services are provided to infants and toddlers of low-income families. Many of the children are residents of the HIS Family Shelter and the Accelerated Learning Program. Harbor Interfaith is the largest provider of services for the homeless in the Harbor/San Pedro area. |
