The agency provides child abuse services, family life education and foster care services for people of all ages in Los Angeles. Services are provided at three locations; see site list for details. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

Funding For:
Inglewood Parent Cooperative Child Development Center
Children's Bureau of Southern California's Inglewood Parent Cooperative Child Development Center serves low-income children, ages 2 to 5, and their parents  through various family literacy efforts: early childhood education, adult education, parent education, and Parent and Child Together time.  

Oakwood School Readiness Program

Oakwood School Readiness Program offers a comprehensive array of services designed to help support families with children 0-5, child care providers and schools create an environment that is conducive to helping young children develop the necessary skills to be prepared for school.  Services provided include: Targeted Intensive Parent Support Services/Parenting Classes; Adult Education & Literacy for Parents/ESL Classes; Family Functioning Support Services/Kindergarten Parent Backpack distribution & Training; Preschool for 3 & 4 year olds/Parent Co-Op Preschool; Parent & Child Enrichment Program for 0-3 year olds and their parents; Comprehensive Screenings & Assessments; Targeted Intensive Intervention for Identified Special Needs; and Health Services/Health Fair & Screenings.

Partnerships for Families
The AV Partnerships for Families Collaborative will provide voluntary in-home services to DCFS referred families and pregnant women in targeted zip codes in SPA 1.  Direct service will include case management, concrete services (food, clothing, shelter, transportation, etc.), access to childcare subsidies, substance abuse, domestic violence and mental health services.  The collaborative will also conduct activities to increase the organization and community capacity to support families including community activities, forums, social events, Parent Action Councils, youth involvement, Play and Learn Groups, conflict resolution/contact of polarized groups based on Alternatives to Violence Programs activities and a Mentor Parent Program. Internal Capacity Building will occur by providing trainings for staff as well as through participation in trainings in the community and external capacity building will occur by including the community at large. This is a five year grant.

Lancaster PFF Collaborative
The Lancaster PFF Collaborative provides services to SPA 1 Northernmost region, Lancaster and north represented by zips 93243, 93532, 93534, 93535, and 93536. Voluntary in-home service for a minimum of 6 months is provided to DCFS referrals assessed to be high or very high risk, yet with no open case, and to self-referred pregnant women meeting one or more of three at-risk criteria: depressed, exposed to domestic violence or substance abuse.

Family, Friends and Neighbors Providers Association Program (FFNPAP)
Children's Bureau of Southern California will provide training, mentoring, networking resources, and practical support for license-exempt providers that care for children ages 0 - 5 years.  These providers will resources to supplement basic child care with activities that develop the school readiness of children in their care.
