Pasadena Collaborative Literacy Project
The Pasadena Collaborative Literacy Project is a five-year community partnership focused on improving early childhood literacy. Child Care Information Service established the PCLP in partnership with Pacific Oaks College, Frosting Center, the Center for Community and Family Services, the Pasadena Public Library, and UCLA's Center for Improving Quality Child Care (evaluator).  The project serves a cross section of the communities of Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre in SPA 3 and the communities of the City of Glendale in SPA 2.  The project will target child care providers, including licensed and licensed-exempt family child care, center-based child care providers and Head Start providers. Two of the project's components are:

  1. literacy training courses and mentoring for child care providers
  2. literacy support groups and ESL classes for parents of children 0-5.

Literacy materials will also be available for children in take home packets containing books, writing materials and other literacy materials.
