ABC's of a Safe Summer
June is National Safety Month, and I am happy to report that First 5 LA has joined with ABC7 to support a summer safety promotional campaign for children. Elements of the campaign include public service announcements about pool safety, child CPR, and reminders to never leave your child in a hot car.
To kick off the campaign ABC7 held an event on May 22 at the L.A. Swim stadium on the campus of Exposition Park, welcoming more than 100 children to learn about First Aid, CPR, fire safety, pool safety and more. The event was featured on the ABC7 evening news, with messages from the Red Cross, Department of Water and Power and First 5 LA about how to have a safe summer.
I would also like to encourage our readers to download and print the educational “at a glance” tip sheets available on the ABC7 Web site to distribute to families. These tips are easy to read and comprehensive. They are also available in English and Spanish. Click here to go to the Web site and download the materials.
