Dental Health Month Success

Evelyn Martinez As Children's Dental Health month comes to a close, I'd like to share some of First 5 LA's successes in reaching out to children. On February 7, First 5 LA partnered with the Children's Dental Health Center of Greater Los Angeles and the Wilson-Jennings-Bloomfield UCLA Venice Dental Center for 'Give Kids A Smile Day'.

An all-day event, First 5 LA staff and LA Universal Preschool (LAUP) staff held outreach booths in both locations. Over 300 children were seen that day - receiving screenings, fluoride varnish and other treatments. We'd like to thank both of these sites for working with us to promote children's oral health and we look forward to future partnerships. Click here to see photo's of the event.

Dental disease is the number one reason why children miss school. Teaching parents and children the importance of starting early with oral health care is a priority for First 5 LA.
