Working Together to Ensure Healthy Development for all Children: The New Prevention Services/Early Start in Los Angeles County
Panel discussion: Representatives from Regional Center, Education,
and Family Resource Center
Recent changes in legislation have shifted responsibility for "prevention services" (formerly the Prevention Program) for children age birth to three from the Regional Centers to local California Early Start Family Resource Centers.
- How do these changes affect children and families?
- What do service providers need to know about the new "prevention services"
- What services are available for children who don't qualify for Early Start?
Panelists have been invited from Regional Center, Education, and Family Resource Center to talk about the new Prevention Resource and Referral Service.
The goals for the session are for local providers (home, center, medical, consultants) of services for children age birth to age three to:
1. learn about the plans for the new prevention services;
2. share ideas about resources for children and their families who do not qualify for Early Start;
3. strategize ways to ensure that all children and families get the services they need; and
4. build relationships with service providers from other agencies and programs.
