Special Topics in Autism: PEDIATRIC FEEDING
This intermediate level course will be presented from an interdisciplinary team approach. It will explore the complex challenges that children on the autism spectrum face during mealtime whether it is at home, school, or community environment. Video case studies will be reviewed and discussed, considering the complexities of oral motor and swallowing abilities, sensory processing, behavior challenges, and nutritional needs. The importance of the parent-child dyad will be highlighted, addressing how it should be utilized during treatment, planning and intervention.
This conference will be of interest to Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language
Pathologists, Dietitians, Nurses, Early Interventionists, Educators and any other professionals involved in feeding assessment and intervention. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance verifying 6 training hours.
