Birth and Beyond Los Angeles - Train the Trainer

This 16-hour Train the Trainer workshop provides the evidence, knowledge and skills participants need to confidently train nurses on early mother-infant attachment and breastfeeding in the hospital setting. It will highlight the teaching techniques and tools necessary to enhance the classroom experience. Emphasis will be on honoring the nurses' feelings and building her confidence in her clinical skills.

It is designed as a Staff Training Curriculum to meet the Baby-Friendly USA 4-D Pathway Guidelines, 2010 Edition.

2012 Head Start Learning and Resource Fair

In addition to learning activities for children, workshops for parents, and entertainment for all, the fair will feature exhibits with education, nutrition and family support services. There will be on-site health screenings provided by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

The event is free and open to the public.

Fetal Alcohol & Other Neurobehavioral Conditions: Understanding & Application of a Brain-Based Approach

This training workshop is designed for professionals as well as parents and other caregivers of children, adolescents and adults with confirmed or suspected fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) and other brain-based conditions. Adults with brain-based behavioral conditions, including FASD, have also attended and found it helpful.

The goal of this workshop is to develop specific, concrete techniques for working with people with FASD and to develop a plan for their implementation.
