Little Learners: Learning Differences versus Intellectual Disabilities in Children 0-5

This intermediate training for child educators and mental health professionals will focus on learning differences and the impact on developmental presentation in young children. As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the theoretical foundations of typical and atypical trajectories.

2. Identify "red flags," as well as differences between learning differences, developmental delays and disabilities.

3. Explain how developmental profiles interact and influence learning styles, emotional regulation and intelligence.

4. Utilize systematic use of observation to differentiate a learning difference from a disability.

5. Describe differences in culturally defined learning expectations for children 0-5

6. Utilize techniques to promote learning opportunities and positive behavioral growth.
