Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week 2009

August 7, 2009

This one day seminar will provide participants knowledge about current topics in lactation. More than 60 percent of normal, full term newborns have some degree of jaundice. We will look at the relationship between breastfeeding, jaundice and premature weaning. Disaster preparedness covers all areas of our lives. Learn how breastfeeding needs to be a priority for keeping our children safe in times of crisis. Was breastfeeding included in your medical curriculum? How curious ... what are ten things we need to know, but were not taught? We'll round it out by addressing the developmental needs of preterm and ill newborns to support successful breastfeeding.

Featured Speakers:  Lawrence M Gartner, MD; Christine Gibson, RN, PHN, CLE; Karin Mitchell, MA, CCC-SLP, Kathy Ramirez, OTR/L, PAM, SWC
