Camine, Sonria y Viva con Clínica Romero Health Walk '09

In celebration of more than 25 years of service to the community, Clínica Msr. Oscar A. Romero will have a Health Walk - Camine, Sonria y Viva con Clínica Romero - on Saturday 3 October 2009. The event will bring together the Pico-Union/Westlake and Boyle Heights/Northeast Los Angeles communities to celebrate, exercise, and enjoy the growth and success of Clínica Romero.

Health Walk (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
Approximately 2,000 participants are expected to join in the Health Walk including Pico-Union/Westlake and Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles residents, patients, staff, Board members, corporate sponsors, and friends of Clínica Romero. The route is approximately three kilometers and highlights local schools – Gratts Elementary, Belmont, Miguel Contreras, and Edward Royball Learning Center; hospitals – St. Vincent Medical Center and Good Samaritan; parks – MacArthur and Vista Hermosa; landmarks – Westlake Theater, Central City skyline; and neighborhood environmental conditions.

Picnic Lunch (12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.)
Sponsors for in-kind food donations are actively being sought to provide healthy nourishment for participants and event volunteer coordinators.

Entertainment Program (12:30 pm – 3:30 pm)
A brief recognition ceremony will be followed by an afternoon of Latin music.

Community Services/Health Fair (12:00 pm – 3:30 pm)
Clínica Romero works with over 100 community partners to provide comprehensive services for its patients with the aim of assisting individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency.  Our community partners from social services, healthcare providers, and education are invited to disseminate literature and discuss the ways they help Pico-Union/Westlake and Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles residents.
