Neal Kaufman, M.D., M.P.H.

Neal Kaufman, M.D., M.P.H., is an adjunct Professor of Pediatrics and Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA),Geffen School of Medicine and Fielding School of Public Health and is the Co-Founder of the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities.

For over three decades Dr. Kaufman, based in Los Angeles, provided, planned, implemented, evaluated and evolved healthcare/social services at individual, family, clinic, community and governmental levels. His first 10 years of his career was with the LA County Department of Health services, based at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. The next 17 years Dr. Kaufman worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He has been instrumental in creating programs for high risk and vulnerable populations received services from LA County's departments of Health, Mental Health and Children and Families' services. Dr. Kaufman was a member of the 1995 Health crises management unit responsible for restructuring and reorganizing the LA County Health Department when faced with a $655 million annual shortfall. Dr. Kaufman was also a member of the National American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Early Childhood, Adoption and Foster Care.

Dr. Kaufman is currently Chief Medical Officer of DPS Health an innovative Software as a Service company he co-founded in 2004 and based in Los Angeles California. Dr. Kaufman founded DPS Health to create technology solutions that enable clinicians to help their patients adopt and sustain behaviors that help them lose weight and keep it off. DPS Health does this by creating, implementing, evaluating and commercializing self-management support interventions which are technology-enabled and clinically-linked.
