"We worked with many organizations and got input from several families on how to structure what went into the publication," said Joe Carcedo, executive director of Families in Schools. "We came up with a three-tiered approach: 1) to reinforce the importance of early learning 2) give families the tools to identify a quality program in their area, and 3) if there were no available programs, how to connect with elected officials to bring in quality programs to the area." The document challenges parents to think about preschool options for their children and lists five things a family can do:
Currently being distributed by CCF, the publication also includes resource numbers for families, statistics on dropout rates in L.A. County and a list of coalition members.
