Public health plan distributor and First 5 LA partner, L.A. Care Health Plan, recently launched their newly redesigned Web site, www.lacare.org. L.A. Care, the largest public health program in the United States, serves close to 800,000 Angelenos through four free or low-cost health insurance programs: Medi-Cal; Healthy Families; L.A. Care's Medical Advantage; the First 5 LA funded Healthy Kids for children 0-5, and Healthy Kids for children 6-18. The new site allows users to determine their eligibility for any one of the insurance programs, as well as access information on health related topics, find an L.A. Care pharmacy, subscribe to L.A. Care news using an RSS feed or sign up for L.A. Care events. Health plan members will also be able to find a doctor or hospital that takes L.A. Care hosted insurances. Other features include a page for advocates and providers to learn how to get involved with the L.A. Care community advisory committee, and how to participate in upcoming local events. L.A. Care also has a Family Resource Center located in Inglewood which hosts health education classes and helps with applications for free and low-cost health coverage. To go to the new L.A.
