Recently, First 5 LA reached out to Filipino Southlanders with information about First 5 LA programs and services on a show titled Kababayan LA on KSCI TV Channel 18. First 5 LA staff member Amanda Bueno was interviewed by Kababayan hostess Jannelle So in the native Filipino language Tagalog about the importance of the first 5 years and services available for parents. She discussed how viewers could receive a free "Kit for New Parents," the First 5 California in-home parenting tool, and also answered call-in questions from viewers during her 15 minute segment. On air since 1977, KSCI TV, known as LA 18, is geared towards a multitude of different first generation Asian groups in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura and San Diego counties. The station's shows are in English, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, and Tagalog with viewership of more than 9 million. Kababyan LA runs weekdays at 4:45 pm and is available online at www.la18.tv.
