As part of First 5 LA's ongoing public education efforts, the Public Affairs team was engaged in the following media opportunities from November through early January:

First 5 LA's "Read Early, Read Aloud" Literacy Campaign in November garnered considerable coverage in community newspapers. Our kick-off event with Supervisor Gloria Molina and L.A. County Library staff was featured on L.A. Times website. Full literacy campaign related media listing:

December 29, 2008: Public Affairs staff member was interviewed during the 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. newscasts on the availability of Healthy Kids insurance and services provided by the First 5 LA parent helpline.

LA OPINIÓN (Spanish-language newspaper)

January 7, 2009: A front-page article quoting the Public Affairs Director on First 5 LA's response to California Now report on children and threats to our funding due to state budget crisis.

KAZA-Channel 54 (Spanish-language TV station)

January 7, 2009: Public Affairs staff member was interviewed on First 5 LA's response to the California Now report on children as well as First 5 LA's funding threats because of crisis with the state budget.

KRCA-Channel 62 (Spanish-language TV station)

January 8, 2009: Public Affairs staff was interviewed on First 5 LA's response to a Children NOW report, Healthy Kids insurance and threats to First 5 LA funding.
