First 5 LA is pleased to launch the second cycle of the Community Opportunities Fund (COF), a funding approach to create long-term community change for children and families in LA County. COF supports two grant programs: organizational capacity building and policy and advocacy. Organizational capacity building grants are to help strengthen organizations' effectiveness, improving their ability to impact outcomes in young children related to health, unintentional injuries and parental support. Policy and advocacy grants are intended to create long-term impact on these same outcomes through systems change. "Given the success of the first cycle of COF, we are excited to be able to fund more community agencies," said Evelyn V. Martinez, First 5 LA executive director. "We see them as critical partners in contributing to the goals of the First 5 LA Commission." First 5 LA will provide six information sessions throughout L.A. County between July 7th and 14th to discuss the specifics of the fund, eligibility, the application and review processes and potential project ideas. Applicants may access an online Letter of Intent beginning today, June 30, 2008. To learn more about the COF and to RSVP for an information session near you, please visit www.first5la.org/cof, or contact Aleece Kelly at cof@first5la.org. |
