Elected officials, community leaders, and children's advocates celebrated the grand opening this month of the first LA County-built child care facility, the Van Nuys Civic Child Development Center. The 7,100-square foot state-of-the-art center on Sylvan Street will serve about 75 children, with enrollment priority given to offspring of city, county and federal employees in the San Fernando Valley. Funded by $3 million from LA County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky's 3rd District capital budget, the center will serve children from 6 weeks to 6 years old, including kindergartners. For enrollment information, call the Child Care Resource Center at (818) 256-1000 x 1220. |
