The finance department at First 5 LA recently was awarded the "Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting." The award, given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.

First 5 LA's comprehensive annual financial report for 2008 "exemplified outstanding financial management and demonstrated a strong contribution to the practice of good government finance," according to the GFOA. "I am extremely proud of the finance staff of First 5 LA," said Evelyn V. Martinez, First 5 LA executive director. "This is quite an accomplishment and reflects the competence and professionalism of this organization in the area of financial reporting."
