LOS ANGELES------To support local agencies, municipalities and community-based organizations’ applications for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants, First 5 LA will offer matching funds for grant proposals that serve young children and their families in Los Angeles County. Passed into law last February, the ARRA is a $787 billion federal stimulus spending bill that provides a variety of funding opportunities. As California legislators balance the state's budget shortfall, First 5 LA recognizes that securing ARRA grants is critically important in maintaining education and safety net programs for families with children 5 years and under. In order to be considered for matching funds, organizations must submit completed applications to First 5 LA by 5 pm on June 24. Upcoming deadlines for ARRA grants are listed below: ARRA Match Applications must be received by Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 5pm. ARRA Grant Source and Proposal Due Dates
