The Festival celebrated Child Literacy Month with storytelling, an animated "forest" that brought to life the favorite children's book Where the Wild Things Are" and book giveaways for every child. More than 1,000 families got to enjoy the afternoon-to-evening celebration. "Every year the activities provided by the First 5 LA-funded School Readiness program are one of the highlights of the Harvest Festival," said William Martone, president and CEO of Hathaway-Sycamores. "These activities play a vital role in supporting families in preparing children for school and allow us to outreach to new families who may benefit from the services."
