First 5 LA is seeking nominations for individuals to serve on the 2010-2012 First 5 LA Research Advisory Committee (RAC). The primary role for RAC members is to provide technical input, guidance, and advice to First 5 LA on early childhood research issues relevant to Los Angeles County and our strategic plan in particular, which seeks to improve the health, safety and early education of all children in the county. The RAC will provide essential technical knowledge to inform First 5 LA work as well as increase the visibility and prominence of First 5 LA's research and evaluation efforts. Additionally, the RAC will help First 5 LA stay informed of current research and evaluation projects happening in other locations, as well as potential partnership opportunities. We are requesting nominations of individuals who you feel have the research and related expertise and experience necessary to fulfill a role on the RAC for a two year term (that may be renewable at the end of the initial two years). We welcome self-nominations. The RAC will meet a maximum of three times per year in Los Angeles, with the possibility of additional conference calls and email exchanges. RAC members will be given honoraria and travel stipends for their participation in both in-person meetings and conference calls. Honoraria will not exceed $5,000 per year. HOW TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION Please complete the online application form no later than Tuesday, July 27th, 2010. Following a review of all applications by the selection committee, First 5 LA staff will notify selected applicants by late August of their invitation to participate on the First 5 LA RAC.
