Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP) was established by the First 5 LA Commission to establish preschool services for four-year old children and their families throughout the County.

Objectives of the program are guided by the following criteria:

  • Universal - Support early learning and development of all preschool children throughout Los Angeles County
  • Quality - Offer a highly-trained workforce and a clear accountability monitoring system
  • Diverse & Inclusive - Support children of varying cultures, special needs, disabilities, and incomes
  • Connected - Work with families to design programs best suited to their needs
  • Sustainable - Manage, build and deploy resources and support to ensure high-quality services to children

A 5-year, $600 million investment, LAUP’s mission is for all four-year old children to have access to high-quality preschool programs.
