Prenatal Through Three

From prenatal through three is the most critical developmental period of life. Primary relationships are the foundation of overall development and school readiness in children.

In an effort to improve these early years for all children in L.A. County, First 5 LA committed $125 million for the Prenatal through Three Focus Area. The goal is to optimize the social, emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and motor development of our youngest children in the context of the multiple environments in which they develop.

In order to better convey the purpose of the Prenatal through Three Focus Area, First 5 LA has selected Best Start LA as the title of this investment.

The commission seeks to improve developmental outcomes for children by supporting those environments that have the greatest affect on children's health and well-being. First 5 LA wants all children to have the Best Start possible.

Grantees/Services

The Prenatal Through Three Focus Area is currently developing new funding opportunities pursuant to the board approved implementation plan. Grants will be determined at a later date.
