The purpose of this grant is to promote the idea of school readiness by creating centers and programs that offer an array of services, including early care and education, health and social services, parenting education and support. The Azusa community is a high need area, predominantly Latino (63%) with a high percentage of families with young children living in poverty in female-headed households (18%).

This program is located in SPA3. Major program activities include increase preschool experiences through 5 new preschool classrooms and a Kinder Prep Program at the Valleydale school site with intensive 8-week sessions for up to120 children with in-home instruction following, parent instruction for Kinder Prep Program and parent education/support groups at school sites, case managers available, parent support groups, health, and community resources/funding, and a transition to school program
