First 5 LA funds within our three goals of Early Learning, Health, and Safety through a variety of initiatives that are designed to accomplish specific measurable objectives for improving the well-being of the population we serve.

Our Funding Center information will keep you posted on new funding and contract opportunities, as well as explain our funding guidelines, requirements and procedures.


Current Funding Opportunities
There are often opportunities for funding from First 5 LA to support programs and services for children ages 0-5 and their families. This section describes our current funding opportunities.

  • Best Start LA Baby-Friendly Hospitals Project RFQ
    First 5 LA has released a Request for Qualification (RFQ) to qualified consultant(s) or organization(s) interested in working with First 5 LA staff and Commission to assist in implementing the Best Start LA Baby-Friendly Hospital Project. For the RFQ, application, and other important information, please click here.
  • Oral Health Community Development (OHCD) Project
    First 5 LA's Oral Health Community Development (OHCD) Project is based on the commission's priority to improve children's oral health. The OHCD Project aims to prevent dental decay in children through community water flouridation and related public education and advocacy activities.
  • Best Start Program Management System Contractor RFP
    First 5 LA is seeking consultation with either a group of consultants or a lead contractor and sub-contractors to conduct planning and research activities to assist in the development of the First 5 LA Best Start Data Infrastructure (BSDI), a dynamic web-based data and information collection and reporting system for the Best Start LA investment. The systems will be designed to be user-friendly and intuitive for all end-users. End-users will range from the very technically savvy to those that have limited experience using computers.

Future Funding Opportunities
This section describes our future funding opportunities.

  • Community Opportunities Fund
    The Community Opportunities Fund supports two types of activities: organizational capacity building and policy and advocacy. First 5 LA seeks to fund long-term sustainable changes for Los Angeles County's young children and their families by investing in organizations to build their capacity or conduct activities intended to improve policy efforts.

  • Best Start Program Management System Contractor RFP
    First 5 LA is seeking consultation with either a group of consultants or a lead contractor and sub-contractors to conduct planning and research activities to assist in the development of the First 5 LA Best Start Data Infrastructure (BSDI), a dynamic web-based data and information collection and reporting system for the Best Start LA investment.   • Consultant Resource Directory RFQ
    First 5 LA is pleased to announce the release of an RFQ for the new Consultant Resource Directory, an online searchable database of consultants and consulting firms. The Directory will be a resource for social sector organizations seeking qualitative professional services in a broad range of areas, such as financial management, board, leadership development, fund development, planning, evaluation, information technology, and more.
  • Pilot Community Evaluation Consultant RFP
    First 5 LA is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to individuals and groups interested in working with our staff to develop and execute a comprehensive evaluation and data analysis plan for the Best Start LA focus area pilot community. Consultant(s) will aid in the thinking and planning around what types of data collection methodologies would be appropriate and feasible for the Best Start LA focus area pilot community as well as providing recommendations on the kinds of analyses to plan for, and how to use multiple forms of analyses to inform the implementation and impact evaluation.
