Current Funding Opportunities
There are often opportunities for funding from First 5 LA to support programs and services for children ages 0-5 and their families. This section describes our current funding opportunities.

  • Community Opportunities Fund Cycle Four (4)
    First 5 LA seeks eligible organizations or collaboratives with a level of readiness to implement organizational capacity building activities that contribute to one of the First 5 LA goals from the FY2009-2015 Strategic Plan. For the purposes of COF, organizational capacity building refers to organizational development activities that build and sustain growth and effectiveness. Capacity building projects should create change that is sustainable beyond the life of the grant. For more information please click here.
  • Best Start LA Baby-Friendly Hospital Project - CLOSED
    First 5 LA has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) to eligible hospitals ready to seek the Baby-Friendly USA designation through First 5 LA's Best Start LA Baby-Friendly Hospital Project. An information session took place on December 7, 2009 at First 5 LA. For more information, please click here.
  • Oral Health Community Development (OHCD) Project
    First 5 LA's Oral Health Community Development (OHCD) Project is based on the commission's priority to improve children's oral health. The OHCD Project aims to prevent dental decay in children through community water flouridation and related public education and advocacy activities.

  • Printer Contractor Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
    First 5 LA is issuing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to businesses interested in working with our Public Affairs department as a non-exclusive Printing Contractor. The primary function of the printer will be to supply First 5 LA with both digital and offset print production services. For more information please click here.
  • Call for Reviewers: Printer Contractor RFQ
    First 5 LA seeks qualified reviewers to evaluate applications from businesses seeking to work as a printer with First 5 LA. Reviewers should have knowledge of graphic design and experience working with a variety of printers producing collateral materials using both digital and offset printing techniques.   • Call for Reviewers: Community Opportunities Fund (COF) Cycle 4
    First 5LA seeks qualified proposal reviewers for the Community Opportunities Fund (COF) Cycle 4. Reviewers should have previous experience in program planning, management, evaluation and/or grant making and have familiarity with the nonprofit and/or policy landscape of Los Angeles County.   • Consultant Directory RFQ
    First 5 LA is pleased to announce this RFQ and review cycle, as an opportunity for consultants not already included in the Consultant Resource Directory to provide their qualifications for review and inclusion. The Consultant Resource Directory is a project of the First 5 LA Technical Assistance (TA) Institute, established to develop and manage programs and services to support the effectiveness of organizations in Los Angeles.   • Auditing Services RFP - CLOSED
    First 5 LA is seeking the services of an independent CPA accounting and auditing firm for the annual audit. We will require a draft certified audit by October 1, 2010 for the fiscal year-ended June 30, 2010. The Commission has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the FY 2007-08 and has submitted for the award for the FY 2008-09.   • Marketing and Communications Talent Placement Agency - CLOSED
    First 5 LA is issuing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to organizations interested in supporting our Public Affairs department as a Marketing and Communications Talent Placement Agency. The primary function of the agency will be to supply First 5 LA with temporary employees who will fulfill our Marketing and Communications needs under the supervision of the Public Affairs department managers.   • Organizational Assessment Consultant RFQ - CLOSED
    First 5 LA is pleased to announce the release of an RFQ to develop and implement a new pilot Organizational Assessment model. The Organizational Assessment model is intended as a means to assist organizations in developing objective perspectives about internal operations and systems, leadership and board functionality, financial management and technological capacities, external perceptions etc. For more information, please click here.
  • Fixed Asset Inventory RFQ - CLOSED
    First 5 LA is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select a firm to perform a fixed asset inventory, recommend a fixed asset tracking software solution, assist staff with the implementation of the selected software, apply a unique bar code tag to each asset and reconcile against existing spreadsheet data and sub-ledger balances.
