First 5 LA funds within our four goal areas of children being born healthy, maintaining a healthy weight, being safe from abuse and neglect and being ready for kindergarten through a variety of initiatives that are designed to accomplish specific measurable objectives for improving the well-being of the population we serve.Our Funding Center information will keep you posted on new funding and contract opportunities, as well as explain our funding guidelines, requirements and procedures. First 5 LA policy does not allow us to respond to unsolicited proposals. First 5 LA is required to administer funding for proposals or projects through a transparent Request for Proposal/Request for Qualifications process.

Contract Opportunities
As part of our program implementation, First 5 LA frequently posts contract opportunities and issues requests for proposals to the broader professional community.

  • Call for Reviewers: Design Chart of Accounts: First 5 LA seeks qualified proposal reviewers for the design of a Chart of Accounts Request for Qualifications. As a reviewer, you will have the opportunity to recommend selection of a contractor to design a chart of accounts. Please forward the application along with the required documentation. Deadline extended to February 17, 2012.
  • Best Start Communities: Request for Vendors: Through this Request For Vendors (RFV), First 5 LA seeks to develop a pool of pre-approved vendors that are eligible to provide services in a number of areas including: audio/visual, catering, child care, event coordination, facilities/venues, interpretation/translation, graphic recording and transportation.

Closed Opportunities
The following funding opportunities have closed while applications are being reviewed.

  • Tot Parks and Trails Request for Proposals: First 5 LA is seeking proposals from qualified public/private partnerships to develop tot parks and trail projects. Partnerships will be selected for each Supervisorial District with funding up to $2 million for a period of up to three years per district.
  • First 5 LA Data Architect - Fund Design, Development and Implementation Request for Qualifications: First 5 LA is seeking a consultant with significant data architecture and data modeling experience.  For additional information, please review the link to the RFQ.
  • First 5 LA Consultant Pool Request for Qualifications: The First 5 LA Research and Evaluation (R&E) department is seeking applicants to be included in a pool of approved and contracted consultants to support R&E work.
  • Policy Advocacy Fund Request for Proposals (RFP): The Policy Department is seeking applications from qualified organizations to support the First 5 LA Policy Agenda. The Policy-Advocacy Fund (PAF) is designed to support a variety of strategies in the policy and advocacy arena.
  • Oral Health and Nutrition Expansion and Enhancement Project: Dental Health Innovation Project Request for Proposals (RFP): Seeks to support innovative oral health pilot/demonstration projects in the areas of dental health information technology systems and service provision in non-traditional settings.
  • Healthy Food Access Initiative: Community Gardens Project Administrator Request for Proposal: The Healthy Food Access Initiative was approved by the Commission in November of 2010 with a total allocation of up to $7.5 million dollars over five years. This request for proposals ("RFP") is solely for the implementation of the community gardens component.
  • Oral Health and Nutrition (OHN) Expanding the Safety Net Dental Care Infrastructure Request for Proposals: The primary goal of this funding opportunity is to strengthen and expand the capacity of the healthcare safety net and increase access to dental care for children 0-5 by building up to five (5) dental clinics in the Los Angeles County's safety net. 
  • Oral Health Nutrition (OHN) Access to Oral Health through a Dental Home Model Request for Proposals: First 5 LA is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to eligible organizations committed to improving access to dental care for children from prenatal stage through age 5.
  • Oral Health and Nutrition (OHN) Dental Home- Call for Reviewers: First 5 LA seeks seeks qualified proposal reviewers to review and score proposals and/or applications submitted in response to First 5 LA's Oral Health and Nutrition (OHN) Access to Oral Health through a Dental Home RFP.
  • Oral Health and Nutrition (OHN) Safety Net- Call for Reviewers: First 5 LA seeks qualified proposal reviewers to review and score proposals and/or applications submitted in response to First 5 LA's Oral Health and Nutrition (OHN) Expanding the Safety Net Dental Care Infrastructure.
