The Consultant Resource Directory is a project of the First 5 LA Technical Assistance (TA) Institute, established to develop and manage programs and services to support the effectiveness of organizations in Los Angeles providing resources and positive outcomes for very young children and their families. Initial TA Institute pilot programs have included: multi-session trainings focusing on sustainability planning, development of social enterprise earned income opportunities and organizational leadership for executives and senior managers; topical capacity building seminars; the Customized Consulting and Organizational Assessment program, among others. Through providing a range of capacity building programs and resources, First 5 LA has increasingly recognized the value that experienced consultants offer and the roles they accomplish by working directly with nonprofit organizations to sustain positive outcomes for their constituents. The Consultant Resource Directory was launched in January 2010 as a vetted, searchable online resource for nonprofit and other social sector organizations, including those serving very young children and their families. Our goal is to strengthen the organizational capacity of these organizations, their staff and their constituencies to build and maintain qualitative sustainable programs and services. First 5 LA is issuing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to individuals and groups interested in being included in the Consultant Resource Directory. In order to be selected for inclusion through the review process, applicants must demonstrate substantive successful experience in providing professional counsel, training and/or technical assistance to community-based agencies. Knowledge about systems, organizations and programs serving young children and families is also of value.
All questions and requests for additional information regarding this RFQ must be received in writing by First 5 LA via email before 5 p.m. on March 18, 2011. A list of submitted questions and answers can be found here. Please note: consultants and consulting groups currently listed in the directory DO NOT need to respond to this RFQ. To provide a response to this RFQ, applicants are requested to submit a complete application online to First 5 LA no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011.
